Habitat for Humanity’s Committees of Volunteers Family Selection Committee: receives and reviews applications for Habitat housing, checking applicants’ conformance to Habitat’s selection criteria, credit history and ability and willingness to become a homeowner partner with Habitat for Humanity. Visits applicant and recommends to the Board of Directors. Meets monthly. Rev. Herman Pride, Chair. Site Acquisition Committee: searches for suitable building lots for Habitat house construction, researches title information and recommends appropriate action to Habitat’s Board of Directors. Meets as needed. Ben Slade, chair. Family Support Committee: nurtures new homeowners, providing education and advice regarding home maintenance, predatory lender, and household budgeting issues and offering fellowship opportunities for Habitat families. Meets regularly. Venus Holmes, Chair. Church Relations Committee: develops and maintains partnerships with congregations to promote the mission ministry of Habitat for Humanity with prayer, volunteer and financial support of Habitat’s work. Tom Hoffacker, Chair Special Events Committee: develops and directs special fundraising events and occasions of celebration. Starling Sutton, Chair. Financial Development Committee: directs the Board of Directors in the establishment of an annual budget for operations, recommends fiscal policy consistent with an annual independent audit and Habitat International affiliation and develops financial support for Habitat’s operations and program.
